What are hip injections?

As the name suggests, hip injections involve injecting medicine directly into the hip to diagnose or treat various hip injuries or illnesses, including arthritis. In general, this procedure often involves injecting cortisone or other anti-inflammatory medications in order to relieve joint pain. Hip injections can also help surgeons diagnose whether a patient has a more serious hip injury which may require surgery.

What is platelet rich plasma therapy?

Often known by its acronym PRP, platelet-rich plasma therapy involves increasing the number of platelets in someone’s blood through a non-surgical procedure, then injecting the platelet rich plasma back into the same person. This non-surgical medical procedure can be a very effective method for forming blood clots and promoting healing in a patient, particularly after undergoing hip surgery or as a way to delay joint replacement surgery. IMC Bone Doc doesn’t perform PRP therapy at this time, but we would be glad to discuss all procedures with you and recommend you to a PRP specialist if necessary.
