Dr. Farakh got his M.D. degree in 1986 at Damascus University in Syria. He finished an orthopedic and traumatology residency in Russia in 1992. He actively participated in orthopedic science research and invented an external fixation device for treatment of bone fractures. Then, he got a Ph.D. degree in orthopedics from Moscow, Russia in 1995. After that he was appointed an assistant professor at Kuban Medical Academy in Krasnodar, Russia, where he actively participated in teaching medical students and orthopedic residents.

Dr Farakh had 10 articles published in the most prestigious orthopedics journals in Russia. After his immigration to the United States, he got a D.O. degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005. He did his orthopedic residency at Peninsula Hospital Consortium where he served as a chief resident from 2009-2010. Dr Farakh joined Island Musculoskeletal Care in 2010. He performs surgeries for treatment of sport injuries, trauma and total joints replacement. He still enjoys educating orthopedic residents and medical students.

Hospital affiliation include Long Island Jewish Medical Center and North Shore University Hospital at Franklin Medical Center, LIJ North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset and Mercy Medical Center.
